| The Opening Ceremony of Han Meilin Art Museum |
The Han Meilin art museum opened in Tongzhou district, Beijing at 16:30 in June 25, 2008. The number of the art works there is the largest in China, and it has the most abundant varieties too. The commissioner of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the state councilor Liu Yandong, the Vice Chairman of CPPCC Zheng Wantong, the former vice chairman of CPPCC Wang Zhongyu, Zhang Siqin, the commissar of the University of National Defense Zhao Keming, the 1st vice-chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center Tang Tianbiao, and the vice-chairman, general Zhang Zongyin and general Dai Shugao presented the opening ceremony. The member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC and Central Research Institute of Culture and History, CPC, Han Meilin showed the manuscript of the Olympic mascot for in the opening ceremony for the first time, and he donated part of the manuscript to the International Olympic Committee for permanent collection.
The construction of the Han Meilin art museum which is seated in the Liyuan theme park in Tongzhou district, Beijing, was started in April 18, 2006, and it was finished after two years. The main building area of the art museum is nearly 10,000 square meters whose design is simple but distinctive. The art works there included 2000 pieces of the painting, calligraphy, sculpture, and folk arts and crafts which were donated by Han Meilin. He combined the outstanding cultural traditions of China and the modern art methods together. A unique artistic style was created in such a way. Furthermore; 3000 of his art works will be exhibited here by turns.
The Beijing Tongzhou district Han Meilin art museum is the second museum that exhibits Han’s individual art works in China. The first Han Meilin art museum was built in Hangzhou in October 15, 2005. The two museums seated from the beginning of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the end. And the completion of the two makes the canal culture more colorful.
